Ahmad Irfan Arifin

Ahmad Irfan Arifin is a seasoned trial and arbitration lawyer who brings 20 years of experience in assisting and representing clients before Indonesian courts, domestic and international arbitration. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Catholic University of Parahyangan, Bandung and obtained his master degree from the Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley where he received an award for best advocacy in legal research and writing. During that time he also worked as a counsel in an international law firm based in San Francisco.
Ahmad Irfan Arifin specializes in commercial disputes, criminal and administrative litigations arising across a range of sectors, including infrastructure and construction, natural resources, technology, telecommunication, trade and manufacturing. He has vast experience in advising and representing clients before arbitration conducted in Jakarta, Singapore, Hong Kong, Paris, London and Houston under the rules of key arbitral institutions including the ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, LCIA, BANI, ICSID and UNCITRAL Rules.
Over the years, he has been known as a leading lawyer in managing many high-profile cases involving international corporations, most notably in defending a Japanese major contractor in a joint venture and construction related disputes worth US$1.4 billion, which is recorded as one of the biggest civil claims to have ever brought against a Japanese investor before the Indonesian courts.
Throughout his career, Ahmad Irfan Arifin has obtained a number of achievements due to his high quality of work and professionalism in providing legal services in dispute resolution work areas. These achievements include being a winner of the Client Choice Award 2019 for Litigation Category by Lexology, a leading legal publication based in London.
Ahmad Irfan Arifin has been frequently invited as a panellist in international legal seminars and conferences held in Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo and London. Since 2019 Ahmad Irfan Arifin has also been entrusted as an Expert Panel in one of the most prestigious international legal publications based in London, The Dispute Resolution Review.

Erwin Purba is a Founder and Partner in the Corporate Practice Group of Arifin, Purba & Firmansyah.
Erwin Purba brings 28-years experience in Indonesia, South Asia, South East Asia and Australia. His principal areas of practice includes corporate and commercial, foreign investment, mergers & acquisitions, telecommunications, media and information technology (TMT), data protection, trade and general regulatory and compliance advisory work and commercial disputes.
He has extensive legal experience from working for a major international law firm in Singapore, a leading Malaysian regional cross-media holding company and another established Indonesian law firm (including a secondment with a leading Australian law firm) and being partner in an Indonesian law firm.
His combined experience in both working in private practice (in Indonesia and overseas) and working as in-house counsel for a multinational organization (in Indonesia and overseas) has proven to be beneficial for the Firm’s clients, because of his insight of understanding what the client needs.
Erwin Purba has successfully assisted clients in a number of major debt restructuring involving the sale of major assets of the restructured companies, the acquisition and sales of shares and assets in companies in Indonesia and a number of high profile disputes.
Erwin Purba is a licensed Indonesian advocate (Peradi) and has published articles and spoken in seminars related to data protection laws.

Tjahyono Firmansyah is a Founder and Partner in the Corporate Practice Group of Arifin, Purba & Firmansyah.
Tjahyono Firmansyah brings more than 30 years legal experience in Indonesia and regionally in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, foreign investment, insurance, infrastructure manpower, dispute resolution and also Indonesian regulatory law issues. Tjahyono is currently the managing partner of Arifin, Purba & Firmansyah and prior to that a partner of a number of Indonesian law firms.
He has worked for a major holding company of an Indonesian conglomerate with investments in multiple industry sectors in Indonesia and overseas.
His combined experience in both working in private practice (in Indonesia and overseas) and working as in-house counsel for a multinational organization (in Indonesia and overseas) has proven to be beneficial for the Firm’s client’s needs.
Tjahyono Firmansyah is a licensed advocate (Peradi) and a licensed capital market lawyer (HKHPM) in Indonesia.
In the recent years Tjahyono Firmansyah has successfully assisted clients in a number of capital market transactions, including Initial Public Offerings, Rights Issue, Private Placements and Mandatory Tender Offers.

He has wide ranging experience in advising and assisting clients in mergers and acquisitions, foreign investments, mining and oil and gas activities, international trade of commodity, structured and secured trade finance, shipping matters relating to both dry and wet shipping, corporate governance and compliance, and commercial dispute resolution.

Edgar is also experienced in handling criminal matters, mainly commercial crime involving local and multinational companies.
